BOSTON — Yummy Walks Food Tours is now offering the Seafood and Chowda Tour.
The walking tour regularly departs on Friday at 1 p.m., and custom tours can be arranged for groups.
According to the Yummy Walks guides, some of the best seafood in America can be found in Boston.
Just think of lobster rolls, chowder (or “chowda,” if you’re from Boston), fish and chips, fresh oysters and clams casino, among others. All the foods originated in New England and have become a part of the American tradition.
The tour visits eateries in Fort Point Channel and Boston’s Seaport District, which offers dramatic views of the downtown skyline while strolling along the HarborWalk. Some of the stops represent the old Boston waterfront and others are newcomers to the revitalized Seaport District.
Along the way, there’s the opportunity to try chowders as well as other seafood specialties. Participants visit a variety of food establishments and can decide who has the best seafood. They can try lobster rolls, clam chowder, seafood chowder and other seasonal seafood, followed by desert.
The seafood is local and fresh, and the Yummy Walks’ Seafood and Chowda Tour is ideal for groups to explore and learn about this historic area as well as experience why Boston is known for its seafood.
In addition to the Seaport District tour, the outfitter offers food tours in Boston that explore the Freedom Trail and the North End, home to Little Italy. All of the excursions include a walk at a leisurely pace and enough food for a satisfying lunch. Larger groups can break down into smaller groups, with a guide for each 16 people.
